Elijah's Scribepost for October 5

In my Scribepost, I will be doing question number 13 a and b. This question will make you compare one cup to the other.

13. A mug for hot beverages is to be designed to keep its contents warm as long as possible. The rate at which the beverage cools depends on the surface of the container. The larger the surface area of the mug, the quicker the liquid inside it will cool.

a) What is the surface area of each mug ? Assume that neither has a lid.
Since There is no lid on the mug.. You'd only get one base of a cylinder instead of two. So your calculations should look like this :

b) Which is the better mug for keeping drinks warm? Justify your answer.

The Red Mug is better because on the paragraph above, it says " the larger the surface area of the mug, the quicker the liquid inside it will cool. " Since the red mug only has 286.36 as its surface area and the blue mug has 298.6 . The red mug will be able to keep drinks warm and the blue mug will get the drinks cooler faster.

  2. Good job Elijah! Everything was explained well, I liked the colors of your font and the way you made the important words stand out. Although, you made a mistake with the mug colors, I don't know if it mattered though, but it should be switched around. Other than that, great job!
