Brayden's Blog Post November 9/10

Today in math class we learned a couple of things.

The first thing we did was figure out an easier way to figure out equations like these.

ex.
15x8
(10 x 8) + (5 x 8)
= 120

1.5 x 8
= 12.0

We already know the answer for 15x8 is 120 so we just simply put one decimal place in the answer.

After that we had to figure out where to put brackets in this equation to make it easier to solve.

8 x 6 + 4 - 9 / 3 x 4 / 2 = 74

Here is the easier way.

8 x (6 + 4) - (9 / 3) x (4 / 2) = 74

We had to do the same thing again for another question.
2
3(2) + 7 (2)
------------- = 16
2

This is what it would look like with brackets.

2
[3(2) + 7 (2) ]
------------- = 16
[ 2 ]

(Sorry for not getting those large brackets I don't know how to make them.)

Thats what the equation would look like.

After that question we had to do a much more complex question.

Ex. 2
8+4 + 2 x 6
----------------- = 14
6

(Square Root is around the equation)

Here is what it would look like with brackets.

2
[(8+4 + 2 )x 6 ]
----------------- = 14
[ 6 ]

(Square Root is around the equation)

In order to solve this equation you have to do the following

8+4+2 = 14
14x6=84
84/6=14
= 14

You don't have to do the square root because there is no need to do the exponent then square root it, so they just cancel out.

That is what we did in todays class.
